Atom AE Otters Win 3 Straight
Wednesday November 14th at the Jack Bionda arena, the Otters hit the ice against the North Muskoka squad. Starting in goal and getting the W was Cole Frasier. Brayden Holman with his usual persistence opened the scoring and shortly after buried his second for a 2-1 lead after one.
The second period saw the Otters grab control of the game starting with a Nathan Markle tally and then a breakaway goal from Jake Hildebrandt . After that, Captain Cole Patey put the game out of reach scoring a hat trick in just over a minute !! Final score was 7-2 Otters.
Saturday November 17th in Minden , the Otters hit the frozen sheet against the Highland Storm. Cole Frasier got the nod between the pipes. Dman Tyson Robb , who possesses a great shot, buried one from the blueline to open the scoring. Later while shorthanded , Hildebrandt fed it to Patey who bulged the twine for a 2-0 lead. Dman Alan East continued his strong defensive play coming back to thwart a Storm attack. Finishing the period scoring was Patey from Cottrill and Hildebrandt from Haynes.
Heading into the second with a 4-0 lead the Otters continued the assault with a great passing play with Patey and Wes Farnsworth setting up Kyle Mattice for a goal. Moments later Dman Jack Lockwood rushed the puck end to end and fed the puck to Taylor Cottrill who scored . The third period saw Markle score from Robb and then Cottrill finished a Lockwood feed for a 8-2 final.
Sunday November 18th at the Jack Bionda the lads faced off against the Ice Devils of Almaguin. Starting in the cage was Owen Buczek. The coaching staff looked concerned early when Cottrill and Patey wiped out taking down several players from both teams to the ice, during the handshake!! They quickly gathered themselves and scored first with Cottrill scoring on his own rebound and then Patey scored . Buczek came up with a great glove side with 50 seconds left to see the Otters lead 2-1 heading into the second frame. The Ice Devils scored only a minute in to tie the game 2-2 . The Otters hemmed in the opposition with amazing pressure but were turned aside . Finally they broke through with Dman,Cole Punchard getting the play of the day with an incredible rush beating 3 defenders and then beating the goalie low to score unassisted. 30 seconds later Mattice scored from Patey and then Farnsworth buried one from the slot.
Heading into the third the Otters turned up the heat and scored 6 . Holman scored on a Lockwood feed and one minute later Cottrill scored unassisted . With only 5 minutes to play Markle scored from Lockwood , Haynes scored from Hildebrandt and then Mattice buried two on feeds from Farnsworth . Final score 11- 2.
Shout out to Almaguin Ice Devils goalie , Ty Wortman who stood tall all game long despite the pressure . Great effort Ty .
Next action for your Atom AE Otters will be this weekend with a tournament in beautiful Port Carling . Drive over and watch some great hockey . The boys will hit the ice with games at 12:30 , 3:30 and 6:30 .
