    2024-25 Offer of Affiliation
    A player who is eligible to participate for their registered team and one other team of a higher division or category. Must be submitted electronically on the Affiliate team's roster on or before January 15th to the Regional Director. To be eligible to play in OMHA Championships and/or League Playoffs with their rostered team, a player affiliating to another team, including junior, must have played in a minimum of fifty (50) percent of the regular season League games played by their rostered team after he has been rostered with that team. With co-operative communication between the LL and Rep coaches, affiliated players are encouraged to practice or play at the Rep level. LL coaches should not object to their players practising or playing with the Rep teams when there is no conflict with their LL commitment. Rep coaches are encouraged to have LL players attend Rep practices.

    U11 (9-10)
    TRANSFER SKILLS FROM PRACTICES TO GAMES! One of the most important periods of motor development for children is between the ages of 9 and 12. This is a window of accelerated adaptation to motor coordination. The three goals of this age group include refining basic skills, introduction to team tactics in a fun environment of learning.

    U13 (11-12)
    THE GOLDEN AGE OF PLAYER DEVELOPMENT! This is the window of accelerated adaptation to motor coordination. Group interaction, team building and social activities should be emphasized. A reasonable balance of practices and games will foster the ongoing development and mastery of essential skills in hockey.

    DEVELOP & CONSOLIDATE TECHNICAL SKILLS! At the U15 age players should begin to consolidate the basic technical skills of the game. An increased focus on hockey should take place along with the introduction and development of advanced group/team tactics.

    U18 & U21 (15-19)
    DEVELOP AND CONSOLIDATE TECHNICAL SKILLS! At the U18 age group, players should begin to consolidate the basic technical skills of the game. Hockey should be the main sport focus of players, reducing the number of other sports being played to just one or two. At this stage, players will be introduced to advanced group and team tactics.

    CHECKING SKILLS
    Education will remain a priority focusing on the 4-Step Checking Progression, which begins the first time a young player steps on the ice. This progression emphasizes the practice of positioning, angling and stick checks followed by Contact Confidence and Body Contact which is taught at the later stages of athlete development.
