Otters Showing Signs Of Great Things To Come
The Huntsville Novice Rep Otters are
looking for some “good luck” tomorrow when they face the Parry
Sound Shamrocks on home ice at the Jack Bionda arena.
The young team is starting to gain
momentum despite dropping two close games to a tough Collingwood
squad last weekend.
In the first game of the home and home
series against Collingwood, Huntsville came out flying, playing hard
up front as well as in the defensive zone holding the opposition to
only one goal after the first period.
The second period saw the Collingwood team notch one more before Jackson Durnan's unassisted goal finally put Huntsville on the scoreboard. The two teams battled hard and by the middle of the period, Collingwood had jumped back out in front by a goal. But the Otters didn't give up and before long, team captain Logan Therrien, assisted by forward Ben Power, slid one past the Collingwood net minder to bring the game within one.
Huntsville goalkeepers Ian Adams and Riley Knox were stellar in net for the Otters stopping a barrage of shots from every angle.
The Otters fought hard throughout the third period with Therrien completing his first hat trick of the season with two more goals assisted by defenseman Gray Patey. But when the clock ran out, the final score was 7-4 in favour of the Hawks.
The following afternoon saw the Otters travel to the Collingwood rink for game two of their Novice season against the high flying Hawks.
The team played well and were led by the strong defensive play of Nathan Johnson, Cohen Poore and Kalvin Crozier. Despite countless efforts by the Otters forwards to light the lamp, Huntsville was kept off the scoreboard for the duration of the game.
The team showed incredible sportsmanship throughout the series and battled hard from buzzer to buzzer.
Great job Otters!!
