PeeWee Rep Otters Golden in Glanbrook
The Huntsville Honda PeeWee Rep Otters claimed top honours at the Glanbrook Fall Classic over the weekend with a thrilling final game over the hometown team to win gold.   The Huntsville squad finished the weekend with a 3-1-1 record in a division of five strong teams.

After a successful 4-1 win over the Oro Thunder on Friday night, the Otters faced a grueling 3 game schedule on Saturday.  First up was a morning tilt with the Dundas Blues.  The Otters came out flying, opening the scoring 8 minutes into the first, followed by two more quick tallies before the end of the period.   And the Otters wouldn’t let up, scoring 3 more goals before the final buzzer for a 6-3 final.

The Otters second game of the day saw the team facing a gritty Port Colborne squad.  The Otters got caught early on an odd man rush that led to the first goal of the game.  But the Otters fought back and answered quickly with two of their own to take the lead heading into the second frame.  The next two periods saw plenty of face-paced action and physical play, but despite the Otters best efforts, the team fell to the Sailors 3-2.

The third match-up of the day for the Otters was against the undefeated Glanbrook Rangers who were sitting atop the leader board.  And it didn’t take long for the Otters to learn why, dropping two goals to the hometown team before the start of the third.  But the Otters were determined and with only 5 minutes to go in the game, the talented offense netted two big goals to claw their way to an exciting 2-2 tie.

The draw between the two powerhouse teams set-up a Sunday morning rematch to see who would claim the ultimate victory and title of champion.  Similar to the first game, Glanbrook struck first and held the Otters off the scoreboard in the first period.  The second period however belonged to the Otters and with unwavering determination and solid team play, the team stunned the Rangers with two back-to-back markers for a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

The final period of the weekend competition saw everything from an Otters penalty shot, numerous highlight-reel saves at both ends of the ice, and crowd pleasing end-to-end action.  And when all was said and done, the Huntsville team prevailed with a hard-fought 3-1 win and proudly wore gold medals atop their Otters crests.

The Huntsville Honda PeeWee Rep team represented their team, town, coaches and families with dignity, respect and class.  Way to go Otters!
