EVALUATION PROCESS (Tryouts) (Huntsville Minor Hockey)

PrintEVALUATION PROCESS (Tryouts)
Evaluations are crucial in forming our teams and ensuring a successful season for all players. We want to emphasize that while the evaluations can be competitive, our primary goal is to foster a positive and inclusive hockey environment for all participants.

What happens on Evaluation Day?
Please make sure to arrive with enough time to complete the check-in process. Your child's attendance will be taken, you will be given a seasonal overview from the Head Coach of the team and provided a "tryout" jersey that each player must return following the evaluations. Once your child has what they need, they can head on over to the change room and get ready to hit the ice!

What is the Evaluation and Release Process? *Note - this process is new for SPRING evaluations.  This process is different than FALL evaluations*

For Spring REP evaluations, players must attend a minimum of (1) evaluation for a league they are wishing to try out for. There will be 3-4 Evaluations scheduled over the course of one week.  Players may attend tryouts in any other center of their choosing within that timeline.  HMHA teams can accept up to 4 players from outside our association per team.
If a head coach offers a player a position on the team and the position is accepted, that player must immediately stop attending other evaluations in alternative centers.  It is up to the discretion of the head coach if that player will remain for the rest of the skates with the center in which they signed.  (some coaches may request signed players no longer attend to allow an easier view of the remaining players)
The teams will be formed at the end of the evaluations.  When evaluations are complete, all players must return their tryout jerseys at the end of the last evaluation.  Failure to return HMHA "tryout" jersey may result in a replacement cost to your account.
