HMHA Break for Holidays Begins Monday, December 14
All HMHA programming will continue as scheduled through this Sunday, December 13th.
With Simcoe Muskoka moving into the province's Red Zone as of Monday, December 14, HMHA will pause all of it's programming beginning Monday, December 14th.
As HMHA was planning to pause programming over the holiday season from December 19th through January 3rd already, we will just begin this break a few days early.
We are hopeful that Muskoka being in the Red Zone will only last the minimum time (which is 28 days). If this is the case, the impact on our programming will be minimal as we already had a 17 day break scheduled for all HMHA activities over the holidays.
HMHA will closely monitor all updates regarding our region and assess what direction our programming will take once we have some concrete data/timing to base our plans on.
Please be confident that the minute there is any updated information to be shared regarding our programming, it will be posted on our website and/or shared with Division Convenors (who would then share with teams).
When we have more concrete information regarding projections for our area in the new year, HMHA will reassess our programming and schedule. We will be looking at such topics as: date we will return to the ice, format of programming, any potential modifications to the third payment installment timeline or balance amount should this be appropriate, end date of programming etc. The answers to these questions and what format our programming will take will be largely dependent on the proposed path the Muskoka Region is expected to follow as far as the provincial levels related to the pandemic.
Taking a pause in our programming is in line with the control measures the government is implementing in an effort to protect our community, including our hockey families during the pandemic.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our HMHA members a safe and happy holiday season. I hope you enjoy time spent with your family and stay healthy. We will see you in the new year!
