Bantam Reps Win MPS Gold
Submitted By Kelly Farnsworth on Sunday, January 7, 2018
The Tawingo Bantam Rep Otters went undefeated this weekend in the MPS Regional Play-Off Tournament to bring the trophy back to the Huntsville Arena.

The Otters first game of the tournament began with a tilt against the Parry Sound Shamrocks on Friday night. The Shamrocks came to play, but the Otters dug deep and shut them out with a hard fought 2-0 victory.

Saturday morning saw the Otters face off against the South Muskoka Bears, with the Otters coming away with a 6-2 win. With a little over an hour's break, the Otters hit the ice once more to face the Highland Storm. That game ended with another shut out for Huntsville with a score of 5-0.

Huntsville's record left them in first place after round robin play, with South Muskoka in second, to set the championship game later that day between the two centres.

Both centres had seen a lot of hockey in the last 24 hours, with both teams bringing all they had left to the ice in the quest for the championship win. When the buzzer rang at the end of the third period, the score was tied at 2. 3 on 3 overtime ended in Huntsville's favour with Huntsville getting that final goal and finishing the game with a 3-2 victory.

The Bantam Otters demonstrated precisely how strong they can be when every player plays with a team mentality, works hard every shift and gives it their all every second they are on the ice. In addition, both goalies demonstrated some stellar goaltending throughout the weekend games.

Way to go Huntsville Otters - the work ethic and team play displayed this weekend is all your coaching staff could ask for. Congratulations players, coaches and parents - great win for the extended hockey family.
