Over the weekend the Armstrong Dodge Midget AE Otters proved that when you believe in yourselves and your team anything is possible. Down players due to injuries and others playing hurt that didn’t stop this group from showing what they are made of.
With a disappointing start against Almaguin on Friday night the boys fell to the hosts by a score of 1-4. The boys dug deep and returned on Saturday to face the Rock. As always in this match up, it was an intense and fast paced game and ended in a 0-0 tie in regulation. The Otters went into the overtime period shorthanded playing 3 on 4. Puck was dropped, face off was won and Cody Purves made a beautiful move to the net and scored with only 13 seconds gone in OT. The shock was evident on the faces of the Muskoka Rock players. A few hours off to recharge the team came back to play the Bears with lots of momentum, they knew if they won they would have the opportunity for redemption and face the Devils in the finals. The Otters were in control of the whole game with incredible team play and determination – they had something to prove. In the end the final score was 4-1 in favour of the Otters.
The finals saw a re-match from Friday. The Otters came out with speed and grit. It was a fast paced game and although the Devils gave the Otters all they could handle the net minding of Matt Spiller was exceptional. The defense held the blue line and worked hard on the break outs. The forwards used creativity and skill to put more pucks on and in the net and the Otters came out with a decisive win in the finals.4-1.
The games were exciting to watch and worth the drive to Sundridge!.
Great job boys! You make us very proud!!
