The Jason Armstrong Huntsville Honda PeeWee AE Otters treated their hometown fans to a great weekend of hockey, playing 6 hard fought games and emerging the champions of their home tournament.
The boys started off their Halloween day hockey with a win against the Simcoe Warriors and finished the day with a win against the Ennismore Eagles.
The next day saw them step up their level of play against some tough competition. In the morning they met up with the Temiskaming Puckhounds, who always prove to be strong opponents. The game was a tight one, but ended as a 3-2 win for Temiskaming. The Puckhounds were the only team in the tournament who emerged with a 3-0 record after the Round Robin play.
Saturday afternoon saw the Otters pitted against the Pelham Panthers. This was another tight match throughout all three periods, with the score ending in a 2-2 tie.
Sunday morning saw the Otters once again up against the Panthers. Huntsville stepped up their level of play once again and seemed to find another "gear". The semi final match up saw the Otters walk away with a solid 7-2 victory over the Panthers. This win sent the Otters to the Championship game.
The Caledonia Thunder and the Otters met for the first time in the tournament for the Gold Medal Game. Huntsville continued to demonstrate their skill and heart throughout the championship game, managing to find the net three times against the Thunder's goalie who played an amazing game (and tournament). Score ended 3-0 for the Otters.
Way to go boys!! You have made us all very proud!!
