Armstrong Dodge Midget AE bring home SILVER from the 2nd Annual All Star Challenge
A road trip to Beamsville, Ontario proved to be a great beginning to what promises to be an exciting season for this team. Lincoln Minor Hockey hosted this tournament and like years past, the organization did not disappoint with a great venue, a well organized event and excellent competition.
This years team is comprised of young men who have played together at some point in their minor hockey career and this certainly helped with the success of the weekend. Although the team got off to a slow start with a 3-0 loss to Mount Brydges on the Friday afternoon the team went back to the hotel shook it off and set their minds to bigger and better play for the following day.
They delivered a 5-0 win over the Pelham Panthers in an early morning tilt. The competition was a little stiffer in the evening game against the hometown team Blades. It was a nail biter with both teams playing a game of incredible team disciplined play. In the end the Otters were victorious 1-0. A semi final against the Panthers on Sunday morning saw the Otters win with a score of 4-2.
This set the stage for a rematch against the Cougars and the Otters wanted this game badly. Cougars scored early in the first only to be matched by the Otters and then the go ahead goal was scored by the good guys. The Cougars tied it up in the 2nd. Again, a game of discipline and defence but in the end the Cougars won with a goal late in the 3rd.
The Otters played a weekend of incredible hockey and were truly "RELENTLESS" with their competition!
