SPRING TRYOUTS FOR U11+
Attention all players and parents of players interested in playing Representative Hockey in Huntsville for the 2025-26 Season.
This year with the opening of borders and the expansion of dates by the OMHA and the inclusion of the Don Lough ice surface year round, Huntsville will be hosting spring evaluations for next season’s teams. Please see below for a list of important events happening regarding the evaluations. While final dates are still to come, this information is here to aid in your planning for the spring as we release more information. You are encouraged to subscribe to the website to ensure you are up to date with the schedule and any changes.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND TENTATIVE TIMELINES BELOW:
BODY CHECKING CLINIC: This is mandatory to the HMHA for first time players to the U15 and above Rep level hockey who have not taken this before. Players must take this prior to Evaluations (tryouts). Players must attend both sessions.
*Please note, on occasion we have requested for the safety of players, that a player repeats the course if we feel the player could benefit from a refresher.*

Tuesday, April 8: 5-8 pm (first hour in classroom)
Wednesday, April 9: 6-8 pm
PREP SKATES: HMHA will be hosting 4 prep skates for each division as per OMHA rules. These are not mandatory but highly recommended to prepare for evaluations. These skates will be open to current HMHA rostered players only. Players wishing to try out for Huntsville Minor Hockey that are not currently rostered on one of our teams are welcome to register and attend evaluations but may not attend prep skates. Player numbers may be capped depending on registration numbers. Players who are still participating in OMHA playoffs are ineligible to attend prep skates until they have completed their seasons. As per new guidelines for OHF player pathway for spring tryouts - these prep skates will follow the calendar linked below.
OHF Guidelines for spring prep skates - Please use this as a guide only:
U11/U13 - As per OHF Prep skates may begin March 2nd and must be completed by April 18th
U15/U18 - As per OHF Prep skates may begin March 2nd and must be completed by April 20th
EVALUATIONS: Evaluations for Spring will look different than fall evaluations and we will be releasing information as we confirm our dates and plans. For now, please see linked calendar dates.
OHF Guidelines for Spring Evaluations for A and below - Please use this as a guide only:
U11/U13 - Must take place between May 3rd and May 9th (7 Days)
U15/U18 - Must take place between May 5th and May 11th (7 Days)
SPRING AND SUMMER PROGRAMMING: Teams that are rostered in the spring will be able to have programming available to them in the spring and a bit of summer - please refer to the calendar.
INFORMATION SESSIONS: Following Head Coaching announcements, HMHA will be conducting two information meetings - One for Head Coaches and one for Parents to discuss the changes and answer questions regarding this new process. This will happen early April. Please be on the lookout regarding these meetings.
