Down and Out in Powassan
Friday night, the Tawingo Bantam AE team travelled up the highway to Powassan, looking for a fourth straight win.  The Hawks, however, had other ideas.

The first shot on goal belonged to Powassan, and both teams continued to pressure without result for the next ten minutes.

At 6:13 Powassan came up with a partial 2 on 1 breakaway after a turnover in the neutral zone.  Parker Soberg-Dann made a great first save, but the rebound was pushed home to open the scoring.

The Hawks took a penalty just twenty seconds later, but the PP failed to capitalize.

Finally at 2:11 Austin McKee buried a nice pass from Cam Richardson to even up the score before the period was over.

The second started with sloppy play at both ends, culminating with a Taylor Cotrill breakaway.  A nice wrister over the blocker put Huntsville ahead for the first time in the game.

The rest of the period was dominated by a series of power plays for both teams.  It looked like neither side was going to profit, but Powassan managed to score on a short handed chance with only 2:46 left in the second.

The third started still tied up, and stayed that way until 8:15 when a nice solo Hawk effort put them ahead on the board.

Huntsville kept pushing with scrappy, hard work, but never managed to bring it back even.

A final Hawks goal at 0:57 capped the scoring.

All in all a solid effort, and closer than the score would indicate.  Next time!
