PeeWee AE Otters Win OMHA Championship
The Jason Armstrong PeeWee AE Otters won the OMHA Championship on Saturday evening in front of a large and supportive home town crowd at the Canada Summit Centre.  Saturday saw the Otters hosting the Ayr Flames for Game 5 of the best of 5 series, with a final score of 3-2 in the Otters favour.

Saturday's game provided an exciting finish to a great season for the Otters.  The game started off with Ayr getting the first goal, leaving Huntsville hungry to even the score, which the Otters did and then added two more goals, giving Huntsville a 3-1 lead.  However, the Flames never let up and managed to find the net for the second time, bringing them within one goal of the Otters.  The third period was an edge of your seat battle.  With the clock ticking down, Ayr pulled their goalie and stepped up the intensity, but the Otters managed to hold them off and walked away with the win and the All Ontario Championship.

The intensity in Saturday's game was a reflection of the whole series.  Huntsville won the toss and hosted Ayr at home for games 1 and 2.  The Otters had been sitting for almost two weeks waiting for their Finals opponent when the series began.  Ayr travelled to Huntsville fresh off their Semi Final Series and they were ready to play.  The Flames took Game 1 on the Saturday, 3-0.  The Otters came back the following day and evened the score at home with a 2-1 win.  The following weekend saw the Otters hungry to play as they travelled to Ayr in style on a coach bus.  The Otters came out strong from the drop of the first puck and took Game 3 with a 6-4 win, giving the Otters a 2-1 lead in the series.  A second win on the road the following day would have given the Otters the Championship, but Ayr was by no means ready to let that happen.  Ayr came out on the attack and took the Otters by surprise, beating Huntsville 9-2 and evening the series at 2 games apiece.  The Otters shook off the beating and regrouped during the week as they prepared for Game 5 back at home.  From the drop of the puck on Saturday, the Otters managed to focus and play their style of game, never letting up the intensity and holding off the Flames' relentless attack on the ice.

The OMHA Championship finished up a very successful season for the Otters.  The regular season ended for Huntsville with a 18-1-1 record.  They followed this by going 4-0 in the MPS Playoff Tournament, winning the MPS Championship Trophy.  During the season, the Otters were gold medal winners in their home tournament and were silver medal winners in the Regional Silver Stick tournament.  The OMHA Play downs saw the Otters accomplish a 12-2-1 record before winning the gold medals in the Championship and sporting the coveted red hats as they left the rink after their final game.
