PeeWee AE Otters Off To The OMHA Finals!
The Huntsville Honda PeeWee AE Otters have been on a roll since December, being unbeaten in their last 20 games.  On Sunday, March 1st they travelled to Port Elgin for Game 4 of the OMHA Semi Finals against the Saugeen Shores Storm.  They finished that game with a solid 5-2 Win to eliminate the Storm from the series. They now play the waiting game, while the Ayr Flames and the Dorchester Dragons play their Semi Final Series, which is currently tied at 1 game apiece - the winner of that series will play the Otters for the OMHA Finals Championship.

This group of young men have worked hard all season and have really developed as a cohesive team.

Their unbeaten streak began after their strong showing at the Regional Silver Stick in early December where the Otters went 4 and O through the round robin and semi finals, losing 4-3 in the Championship game to the Temiskaming Shores Puckhounds.

Mid December to early January saw the Otters go unbeaten for the final six games of their regular season.

Mid January brought the tournament style Muskoka Parry Sound Playdowns where the Otters went 4 and O to bring home the trophy.

Next came the Preliminary Round of the OMHA Playdowns, with The South Muskoka Bears as their opponent.  This series started off with a close game 1, ending with a 2-1 score.  The next two games saw the Otters continue to gain their confidence with scores of 4-2 and 8-1 to finish off that series.

The Otters then advanced to the Quarter Finals, with the Port Hope Phantoms as their opponent.  Huntsville won the toss, with the Phantoms travelling to the Canada Summit Centre for the first two games.  Huntsville came out flying and won both home games, with shut out scores of 4-0 and 9-0 respectively.  The following weekend, Huntsville travelled to Port Hope for game 3.  Port Hope threw everything they had at the Otters in a bid to stay afloat on home ice.  The result was an exciting game that was tied at 2 until less than 3 minutes to go in the third, when the Otters managed to find the net one more time, finishing the game and the series with a 3-2 Win on the road.

The next round in the Playdowns saw the Otters pitted against the Saugeen Shores Storm for the Semi Finals.  Huntsville made the 4 hour journey to Port Elgin on a cold and windy Sunday afternoon for Game 1.  Even with "car legs" after the long trip, the Otters came out flying, with a 6-0 score in their favour part way into the second period.  The Storm attempted to battle back, with Game 1 ending with a 7-3 Win for the Otters.  Game 2 saw the Storm travel to the Summit Centre on Friday night determined to even the series.  The Storm was winning 4-3 late in the third period when Huntsville managed to rip one past their goalie, evening the score at 4 and sending the game into OT.  10 minutes of OT ended with neither team managing to find the back of the net, leaving each team with 1 point for the tie.  Game 3 was also in Huntsville the following day and saw the Otters determined to gain the upper hand once again.  They did not disappoint the home town crowd, coming away with a 6-3 win.  Sunday saw the Otters hit the road once again, back to Port Elgin for Game 4.  Huntsville wasn't taking "no" for an answer and managed to walk away with a solid 5-2 Win to finish the series and advancing them to the next round.

The Otters now must wait for the winner of the Southwestern Ontario Area Semi Final Series.  Will it be the Dorchester Dragons or the Ayr Flames that Huntsville will face in the Final Round of the OMHA Championship Series?

We are all so very proud of these boys for their hard work, determination and team play that has got them to this point and are excited to support them in the Championship Round!  We are all cheering you on!!

GO OTTERS GO!!!!
