Minor Midgets Down 2 Games last Weekend
When asked for a quote on the weekend, Coach Rocky Clarke was positive.  "Over all, relatively pleased with our effort. We are attempting to implement a new system and there will be growing pains and a few missed assignments along the way.  Our goaltending was very solid in both games."

The Minor Midget Otters had a busy weekend playing two Major aged hockey teams. Friday night they kept up with the Collingwood Major's skating and team play both offensively and defensively. Although Collingwood was the first to score during a power play early in the first period... the Otters repaid that goal with their own power play goal to end the first period 1-1.  Nathan Zantingh had the puck deep and when passing the puck out front , Christopher Hudson lost an edge taking himself out of the play but defensive player Jared Stevens received the pass then made like he was wound up for a slap shot. Instead of shooting himself he slide the puck to his defensive partner, Duke Knox, who teed up his shot and found the back of the Collingwood net
.
The second period allowed for only one goal, unfortunately  for the Collingwood team.   So, heading into the third period and down 2-1,  the Otters seemed to be losing steam especially when Collingwood scored again 3 minutes into the 3rd. This is when our Otters dug in, showed some discipline and decided to not give up which was evident with 6 minutes left in the game when the second Otter goal was scored by Hudson assisted by Knox and Stevens.

With both teams taking the game seriously, strategic time outs were called   and aggression levels started to rise. Collingwood scored with 2 min left a after a almost Otter breakaway by N Zantingh and Joshua Zantingh. However the game ended in a Collingwood victory 4-2. Huntsville had 16 penalty minutes and Collingwood had 14.

On Saturday Huntsville hosted the Halliburton Major team.  It was evident that our Otters had some activity recently as Haliburton seemed very fast in the first period. Both teams settled into their regular team play quickly and a lot of coast to coast hockey was played.  The Otters were sloppy in their passes with many intercepted this game which led to turnovers in Haliburtons favour. As that was ,neither team scored in the first period.

It was Haliburton who opened the scoring 2 min into the second period. Then N Zantingh scored assisted from Marshall Clarke and Stevens. Haliburton had a 2 on 1 which resulted in a goal quickly followed by an outside shot which also found its way into the Otter net. But the Otters weren't done.  J Zantingh scored one from Hudson and N Zantingh ending the second period with the otters down by one goal 3-2.

The 3rd period was uneventful on the Otters side of the scoreboard but Haliburton was able to squeak in more into the Otter net. Final score of the game was again 4-2 for the visiting Haliburton Major team.

The next game for the Minor Midgets Otters is in Collingwood October 4th at 8:30 pm.
