Novice Otters Welcome Special Guest
The Huntsville Novice Rep Otters were joined by a very special guest during their Friday morning practice. Former Washington Capitals head coach Gary Green joined the team in the dressing room after the team's morning skate to offer some inspiring advice for the young players.

With his encouraging words of wisdom, Mr. Green reminded the aspiring NHLers to work hard, try their best at everything they do and always have fun playing the game of hockey.

It was a morning to remember for the whole team.  Thanks for visiting our Novice team Gary!

A bit more about Gary Green:

From Wikipedia:

Gary Green (born August 23, 1953 in Tillsonburg, Ontario) is a former head coach of the Washington Capitals and hockey analyst for the NHL on TSN. He was previously head coach and GM of the OHA Peterborough Petes (1977–79) and coach of the AHL Hershey Bears (1979–80). He won the Coach of the Year award in 1979. When Green replaced Danny Belisle as head coach of the Capitals during the 1979–80 NHL season, he was 26, making him the youngest head coach in NHL history.

After getting fired by the Capitals in 1982, Green joined the USA Network as an analyst on their NHL telecasts. In 1984, he joined TSN, where he stayed until 2004. With TSN, he covered Canada Cup Hockey, NHL hockey and IIHF events, notably the World Junior Championships and World Championships. He also covered the NHL Entry Draft from 1990-1998. In 1995, he also worked on a few NHL telecasts for Fox. In addition to national television duties, he has acted as a colour commentator for regional TV broadcasts of the Winnipeg Jets and Montreal Canadiens.

In recent years, he has coached the Canadian entry at the Spengler Cup tournament in Davos, Switzerland, and provided analysis for the NHL Network and NHL Radio.
