Congratulations to two first-time goal scorers!
A special congratulations to Liam McTavish and Toby Johnson, both of whom scored their first goals during Team Independent's 7-2 win over Near North. McTavish opened the scoring at 8:24 in the first period, assisted by Tuleigh Cameron. Cameron would then score the next two goals at 5:00 (unassisted) and 2:50, assisted by Domenic Cousinetine who had one of his best games of the season. The scoring continued in the second period with a lone effort by Sam Farnsworth at 9:13, netting his team-high fourth goal of the season.
It was then Johnson's turn to net his first marker, scoring an impressive goal at 2:09, assisted by Jaiden Bozek who would then scored a goal of his own to start the third period. The defensive force of Caleb Carr and Maverick Hume drew assists on the play. After taking a pass fom Jacob Fairhall, Johnson would score his second goal of the game with an end-to-end rush with just 46 seconds remaining in the contest. Riley Holford, who improved his record to 2-1-2 on the year, was outstanding between the pipes once again. A special mention must be made to Cory Maw who continued his strong success on the point, while Landon Cool and Ben Sawyer worked the corners in both ends of the ice. Practices now move to 5pm on Tuesday nights, and parents are encouraged to have their children at the arena approximately 1/2 hour in advance. Well done everyone!
