Huntsville Midget AE Team Shines at Strathroy Tournament
The Huntsville Midget AE team participated in the AE Olympics tournament in Strathroy this past weekend.  There were five teams in the Midget division.  The format was a round robin with the Otters facing off against each of the other four teams over Friday and Saturday.

Fridays first game was against Tillsonburg. The boys came out on top with a 4-2 win with two goals from Colin McDonald and singles from Richard Middleton and Arjun Jindal. The second  opponent on Friday was Lambeth. The Otters fought back from a 3-2 deficit early in the third period to achieve a convincing 7-4 victory. Scoring for the Otters came from Tyler Brown, Colin McDonald (2), Daniel Taylor (2), Mack Giles and Richard Middleton.  Assists by Scott Wood, Brandon Stapleton, Bryson Jarvis, Nick Degazio, Jordon Trethewey  and Ryan Perry.

Saturdays first match was an early game versus a tough team from Lambton Shores.  The team was down one after the first but rallied back in the second and third with goals from Jonny Temple and Luke Allen.  A strong performance by Ben Belfry in net was a key factor in the 2-1 win.

The final game of the round robin session was against the host team from Strathroy.  The team needed a win to guarantee a first place ranking and did not disappoint.  They led the game the whole way for a 3-1 victory on goals from Connor Hogg, Jonny Temple and Richard Middleton.

With four winds in the early round the Otters played for the gold medal on Sunday against Lambton Shores. Andrew McNeil got the call in net and played a solid game. Lambton came out strong and took a 1-0 lead after the first. They scored again to lead by 2 after 2 periods.  Tyler Brown scored  with just under two minutes left in the game to make for an exciting finish. The boys pressed hard but couldn’t manage to tie it up.

Coach Shaun Vaillancourt was very pleased with the effort from all the players. “It was great to see all lines contributing to the score sheet as well as consistent play from our defense and great goaltending. The boys far exceeded the goals set out for the weekend and should be proud of themselves”.
