Major Midget Otters are MPS Champions
Submitted By Kelly Farnsworth on Monday, January 7, 2019
The MBRP Major Midget Otters have won gold at the MPS Regional Playoff Tournament hosted in Huntsville January 5th and 6th.

The Otters went 4-0 over the two day playoff tournament and will be keeping the Major Midget Championship Trophy at home for the second year in a row.

The Otters started the tournament off with a match up against the South Muskoka Bears. The game proved to be a nail biter, with a score of 2-2 when the final buzzer rang. Next up on Saturday, the Otters took on the Highland Storm, which ended 6-2 in favour of the Otters. Sunday morning, the Otters faced off against the Parry Sound Shamrocks and wrapped up their round robin play with a 9-2 win.

Sunday afternoon saw the Otters face off once again with the South Muskoka Bears for the Championship Game. The Otters got the jump on the Bears and held a 2-0 lead until late in the third when the Bears pulled their goalie and were able to find the back of the Otters net, bringing the score to 2-1. The Otters were able to dig down and hold their lead, finishing out the game with the win and the championship.

Congratulations Otters!!
