Underage Player Movement
Submitted By Kelly Farnsworth on Wednesday, August 8, 2018
Huntsville Minor Hockey Association has amended its Player Movement Policy for Underage players. This policy addresses movement of players from Tyke-Midget.

In light of the changes being implemented by OMHA, under the direction of Hockey Canada, there have been significant changes to the 8 and under programming and player eligibility.

One major change in these divisions is the age groupings for Novice and Tyke. Novice now consists of only 8 year olds and Tyke of 7 year olds. There are some exceptions (and parameters) where the viability of icing a team or division requires the addition of one or more underage players.

This may be of particular interest to players wishing to tryout for a Novice Rep team this year. Rep tryouts for Novice will be open only to 8 year olds. If there is a lack of 8 year old players who attend the Novice Rep tryouts, HMHA will open a second round of tryouts, inviting interested Tyke aged (7 year olds) players to tryout.

Please follow the below link to access the full HMHA Player Movement Policy regarding movement of underage players from Tyke through Midget divisions.
