Jason Armstrong's Huntsville Honda Major Midget Otters hockey team has joined the ranks of Huntsville Minor Hockey teams who are embracing the spirit of giving this holiday season.
This year, one of their goals was to try and give back to the community that has supported these players throughout their hockey careers.
Most of these kids have played almost 10 years of local hockey. Each year the hockey teams reach out to the local businesses to help support their home tournament through Ice sponsorship or gift donations. They have always received tremendous support.
As these players begin to become leaders in our community we wanted to start to teach them how important it is to give back.
They reached out to the Huntsville Fire Dept and offered to help them this year as part of the Salvation Army Annual Food Drive. The players will be going door to door with Fire and Police personnel on Wednesday December 7th to help collect food for those who have fallen on tough times.
This is a small way for their team to say thank-you to the community who has supported us and to show that we can all help.
